I keep delaying my appointment for passport renewal, citing the reason that I don't have an address proof, while the actual reason is my infamous fear of flying. I somehow feels immune without a passport, coz I know for sure that the wanderlust in me is gonna supersede and book a flight to southeastasia, the moment I get my passport back.

Always while in shower, I get this pre-(imaginary)-event recollection, that I did outrun 100 zombies ;killed 20 of them and found refuge in an abandoned barnyard with a hot shower.

Launching EthirDisha.

Have an announcement to make.Almost an year back I started writing to compile an ensemble of my short stories, and I am happy (and a tad surprised) to realize that its done! Might be crappy as hell but why not, I am making a book.Tentatively titled EthirDisha (എതിർദിശ), it will feature 9 malayalam short stories, each belonging to an individual genre.I am trying to get all things ready by end of Q1, this year. Thanks for all the fish!

ഇന്ത്യൻ ഓടിയൻസിനു അത്ര പരിചിതമല്ലാത്തതും എന്നാൽ കണ്ടിരിക്കണം എന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നിയതുമായ കുറച്ചു ടിവി ഷോസ്: 

1.Amazing Stories: 1985 മുതൽ 87 വരെ NBCയിൽ കാണിച്ചിരുന്ന anthology ഷോ. സ്പീൽബെർഗ് നിർമിച്ച ഈ ഷോയിൽ സ്പീൽബെർഗ്, മൈക്കിൾ മൂർ, ക്ലിന്റ് ഈസ്റ്റ്‌വുഡ്, മാർട്ടിൻ സ്കോർസീസി, ജോ ഡാന്റെ, റോബർട്ട്‌ സെമെകിസ്, ടോബെ ഹൂപെർ തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി പ്രമുഖരുടെ ഷോർട്സ് ഉണ്ട്. പ്രധാനമായും സയൻസ് ഫിക്ഷൻ, ഹൊറർ, ഫാന്റസി വിഭാഗത്തിലുള്ള ചിത്രങ്ങൾ ആയിരുന്നു. 45 ഷോര്ട്ട് ഫിലംസ് രണ്ടു സീസണുകളിൽ ആയി കാണിച്ചിരുന്നു.

2.Fawlty Towers: 1975 മുതൽ 79 വരെ BBCയിൽ വന്നിരുന്ന കോമഡി. ഒരു ഹോട്ടൽ നടത്തുന്ന ഫാമിലിയുടെയും അവിടെ എത്തുന്ന ഗസ്ടുകളുടെയും രസകരമായ കഥകൾ ആയിരുന്നു ഈ മിനി സിറ്റ്-കോം. ജോണ്‍ ക്ലീസ് ആയിരുന്നു മുഖ്യവേഷത്തിൽ. 12 എപിസോഡുകൾ മാത്രം. Positively ഫീൽ ഗുഡ്! 

3.Night Gallery: Twilight Zone എന്ന പ്രശസ്തമായ ഷോയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം റോഡ്‌ സെർലിംഗ് നിർമിച്ച ഹൊറർ anthology. (1973-79).സ്റ്റീവൻ സ്പീൽബെർഗിന്റെ ആദ്യ ടെലിവിഷൻ സിനിമ ആയ "The Eyes" (1969) ഇതിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്. വളരെ ഡാർക്ക്‌ ആയ തീമുകൾ സീരീസിന്റെ പൊതു സ്വഭാവമായിരുന്നു. ആഴമുള്ള ഫിലോസോഫിയും സൈകൊളജിയും പല കഥകളിലും കണ്ടിരുന്നു. ആ സമയത്ത് കിട്ടിയ അവഗണന മൂലം സെർലിംഗ് ഈ സീരീസ്‌ disown ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. 

4.Spaced: സൈമണ്‍ പെഗ്ഗ്-എഡ്ഗർ റൈറ്റ് ന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ വർക്ക്‌. സിനിമകളിൽ അവർ പിന്നീട് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് വിജയിപ്പിച്ച പല cinematic techniquesന്റെയും raw രൂപം ഇതിൽ കാണാം.( Montage Edits before establishing a new scene, Shot change with a pan etc). രണ്ടു അപരിചിതർ ഒരു ഫ്ലാറ്റ് അന്വേഷിക്കുകയും പിന്നീട് ഒരുമിച്ചു താമസിക്കേണ്ടി വരുകയും ചെയുന്നു.മൊത്തം 14 എപിസോഡുകൾ. (1999)

5. Freaks and Geeks: Time മാഗസീനിന്റെ "100 Greatest Shows of All Time" ൽ ഫീച്ചർ ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഒരു മിനി സീരീസ്‌ ആണ്. ഒരു matured Wonder Years എന്ന് പറയാം. James Franco, Jason Segel, Seth Rogen എന്നിവരാണ് പ്രധാന വേഷങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 99-2000ൽ NBC എയർ ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഷോ, 80 കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ centric ആയ ഒരു Comedy ആണ്. 12 എപിസോഡുകൾക്ക് ശേഷം സാമ്പത്തികകാരണങ്ങളാൽ നിന്ന് പോയ ഷോ, പിന്നീട് ആരാധകരുടെ നിർബന്ധം കാരണം മൂന്നു additional എപിസോഡുകൾ കൂടി പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചു.

Contemporary ഷോകളും, നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടാവും എന്നെനിക്ക് ഉറപ്പുള്ള Classic/Aired ഷോകളും ഇതിൽ ഉൾപെടുത്തുന്നില്ല.
